COFORD have just released an important new report on the availability of land in Ireland for establishing new forest plantations.

The document shows there is a potential 1.8 million hectares suitable for conversion from agriculture to forestry. As a land use, its the right choice for a lot of economic and environmental reasons.

Together with recent grant regime changes and other incentives, more connections will now be made between the institutions and individuals who want to invest in forestry and the land that is well suited to it.
